Your litigation bench on demand.
You have more deadlines than hands. I provide AmLaw-caliber litigation work product on the timeline you need it, without the overhead of a full-time hire. You stay counsel of record. I stay in the background.
- Summary judgment motion due in 10 days and no time to research it
- Daubert challenge you have not briefed before
- Discovery responses piling up while you prep for trial
- Complex research memo on an issue outside your usual practice
- Trial notebook and pretrial motions for a case heading to a jury
Email me with a matter number and what you need. I respond the same business day.
Licensed attorneys and law firms only.
I do not represent individuals or businesses directly. Every engagement is with a licensed attorney or law firm that remains counsel of record and controls the client relationship. My work product is delivered to you for your independent review, judgment, and use.
My practice is focused on solos and small firms handling civil litigation, particularly commercial litigation and contract disputes, construction and business-tort cases, probate/trust and employment disputes, including insurance coverage and defense matters. If any of these sound familiar, I built this practice for you:
The small commercial litigation firm
You landed a significant contract dispute or business tort case that needs real briefing resources, but you are not ready to hire an associate. You need temporary, experienced capacity on a single matter.
The trial lawyer in the weeds
Trial is in six weeks. You need someone to build the trial notebook, draft jury instructions, and handle the pretrial motions while you focus on witnesses and strategy.
The solo defense lawyer
Carrying 40+ open files, handling a motion docket that never stops, and needing someone who can draft a summary judgment without being walked through basic civil procedure.
The firm with an overflow problem
You have the clients and the cases, but your team is maxed out. You need experienced hands on a specific project without the commitment or overhead of adding headcount.
Concrete work product, clearly scoped.
Everything I deliver is work product for your review and use. You decide what to file, what to send, and what to advise your client. I handle the research, drafting, and preparation so you can focus on the parts of the case only you can handle.
Dispositive and Key Motions
Motions to dismiss, summary judgment, Daubert motions, significant discovery motions, responses, and replies. I research the issues, draft the brief, and deliver it to you for your review, signature, and filing. I write motions that are ready to file, not rough outlines that need reworking.
Written Discovery
Drafting and responding to interrogatories, requests for production, requests for admission, and related discovery documents. I tailor each set to your case theory and the specific issues in dispute, not boilerplate. Delivered to you for finalization and service.
Legal Research and Issue Memos
Targeted research memoranda on specific legal questions with case law analysis, statutory interpretation, and practical strategic options. I frame the issue, map the authority, and give you an honest assessment of the strengths and risks so you can advise your client with confidence.
Deposition Preparation
Deposition outlines, witness preparation materials, exhibit lists, and post-deposition summaries. I identify the key documents, organize the examination sequence around your case theory, and flag the testimony you need for summary judgment or trial. You take the deposition; I make sure you are ready for it.
Trial Preparation Support
Trial notebooks, exhibit lists, witness lists, jury instructions, voir dire outlines, and pretrial motion drafting. I handle the organization and written preparation so you can focus on witness prep and courtroom strategy. Your firm remains counsel of record and runs the trial.
Document Review and Case Organization
Privilege logs, key document identification, document summaries, and issue-tagging for specific witnesses or claims. I organize the record around the issues that matter for your motions and trial strategy, not just alphabetically or by date.
All services are provided to licensed attorneys and law firms only. I do not accept direct representation of individuals or businesses. Court appearances are available only in Texas and Georgia; for other jurisdictions, all work is delivered as remote work product.
One project, five steps, no ambiguity.
You always remain counsel of record, control client communication, and make every strategic decision. I execute the work you scope.
You Reach Out
Email or call me with the case type, jurisdiction, court, current deadlines, and what you need handled. I acknowledge every inquiry the same business day.
We Scope It
We discuss the matter on the phone or by email. I ask what I need to understand the issue, the timeline, and the deliverable. If the project is not a good fit, I will tell you directly.
Written Scope-of-Work
I send a concise engagement letter defining the specific deliverable, timeline, and fee. Fixed-fee for most projects; hourly if scope is uncertain. No work starts until you sign off.
Execution and Delivery
I complete the work and deliver it to you as draft work product. Typical turnaround is 5 to 10 business days for most motions; rush work is available if we discuss it upfront. Revisions within scope are included.
Invoice and Close
Work product delivered, invoice sent, engagement complete. Each engagement is matter-specific. If another project comes up, we start a new scope-of-work.
The case for an external litigation bench.
Senior-level work without adding headcount
You get a litigator with ten years of complex commercial and tort experience. Not a first-year associate learning on your file. Not a freelance writer guessing at legal standards. Someone who has drafted the motion, argued the hearing, and knows what judges actually read.
Capacity when you need it, gone when you do not
Offload summary judgment briefing while you prepare for trial. Hand off discovery responses during a heavy motion month. Get deposition outlines built while you manage client expectations. Use me for a single project or a dozen, but never pay for idle time.
Predictable costs, defined before work starts
Most projects are fixed-fee. You know the cost before I write the first word. No surprise invoices, no open-ended hourly charges creeping past budget. If a project requires hourly billing, I estimate the range and get your approval before starting.
Work product that reflects how courts actually work
I have spent years in courtrooms and in front of judges who do not have patience for bloated briefing. My motions are tight, organized, and written for the reader who matters. I focus on the arguments that move the needle, not the ones that pad the page count.
Reliability under deadline pressure
If I commit to a deadline, I hit it. I have handled emergency motions, compressed discovery schedules, and trial prep on short timelines. I will be honest about what is realistic, and I will not take a project I cannot deliver on time.
No conflicts with your clients
I run a conflicts check on every new matter. I do not represent individuals or businesses directly, so there is no competing client relationship. Your client never knows I exist unless you tell them.
The things you need to know before handing over a file.
I know the concerns because I have had them myself when working with outside counsel. Here is how I handle them.
Supervision and responsibility
I provide draft work product to you. You are responsible for reviewing it, exercising independent judgment, and deciding what to file or use. You supervise the engagement. I do not communicate with your clients, appear as counsel of record, or make strategic decisions on your cases.
Conflicts
I run a conflicts check on each new matter based on the party and case information you provide. If I identify a conflict, I will tell you before any work begins. I maintain a conflicts database and take this seriously.
Confidentiality
I treat every matter as confidential. I will sign a non-disclosure agreement if you want one. I do not discuss your cases, your clients, or the fact of our engagement with anyone outside the engagement.
Data security
I use encrypted file sharing, secure email, and reasonable data security practices for all case materials. If your firm has specific security requirements or protocols, I am happy to discuss them.
Work product status
Everything I deliver is intended as draft work product requiring your independent review and professional judgment before filing, sending, or relying on it. You make the final call on every document.
A decade of complex litigation. Now working for you.
I spent ten years handling complex commercial litigation and high-exposure tort defense at AmLaw and litigation-focused firms in Austin and Atlanta. The caseload was demanding: breach of contract, construction defect litigation, business torts, fraud, insurance coverage disputes, and cases that regularly involved multi-party discovery, expert challenges, and contested motions practice.
I drafted and argued dispositive motions, managed large-scale discovery, prepared witnesses for deposition and trial, and handled cases from initial pleadings through jury verdict. The work required precision, reliability under pressure, and the ability to identify the issues that actually matter in a case, not just the ones that are easy to spot.
I started this practice because I saw the same problem over and over: good small-firm litigators with more work than they can handle and no practical way to bring on experienced help for a single matter. I solve that problem. You send me a project, I scope it, I execute it, and I deliver work product you can trust.
